Who we are
The Heart of Texas Bears (HOT Bears, HOTB) is a 501(c)(7) social and community service group of “Bear” men and their admirers, located in Austin, Texas.
The current Heart of Texas Bears, Incorporated, was chartered by the State of Texas in 1998. Our main purpose is to have fun and enjoy the brotherhood of Bears and Bear-admirers while we support other local service organizations.
We are proud to be a supporting member of the Texas Conference of Clubs.
Our mission statement (as stated in the bylaws) reads:
The Club was founded on the truth that people need to maintain fellowship and fraternity with others of like mind and interest. The Club exists to:
- Support the eradication of discrimination, especially with regard to physical appearance.
- Provide social opportunities that enhance the personal growth and self-esteem of its members.
- Exemplify diversity and inclusiveness in our community.
- Promote the healthy expression of alternative lifestyles.
- Foster positive community involvement and service.
